The SSC Learning Network is a collaborative effort between eight community-based organizations across California, including City Year and California Volunteers, to support students and teachers and provide whole-child support in under-resourced schools across the state.

Our network equips schools with highly trained, near-peer tutors and mentors on the ground, doing targeted interventions to advance students’ academic and social-emotional development.

We oversee a network of more than 500 Student Success Coaches, who serve full-time in California public schools in collaboration with teachers and administrators. By being fully immersed in school communities, we serve not only students, but teachers and administrators as well.

Growing Confidence

The SSC Learning Network is a critical component of an ecosystem of support for teachers and students across California. As near-peer tutors, Student Success Coaches are embedded in the fabric of school communities and are uniquely positioned to be role models for the students they serve every day.

Student Success Coaches collaborate with teachers and administrators to provide students with targeted interventions and personalized support, yielding positive academic outcomes.

Serving Diverse Communities

The SSC Learning Network reaches at least 31,000 California students across more than 25 cities in Northern, Central, and Southern California.

With its wide reach across demographic backgrounds and geographic locations, the network is a model to the rest of the nation of what’s possible when large and small organizations come together to support and uplift students of all backgrounds.
