About the SSC
Learning Network
The Student Success Coach Learning Network is a collaborative effort between fourteen community-based organizations across California, including City Year and California Volunteers, to support students and teachers. We provide whole-child support in schools that can benefit from additional capacity.
Our network equips schools with highly trained, near-peer tutors and mentors on the ground, doing targeted interventions to advance students’ academic and interpersonal development. We recruit a network of more than 1,100 Student Success Coaches, who serve full-time in California public schools in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
Our Student Success Coaches are young adults typically between the ages of 18 and 25 who make a meaningful impact in the communities they serve while building valuable career skills and professional networks. By being fully immersed in school communities, they support students, teachers, administrators, and the broader neighborhood.

The SSC Learning Network reaches at least 76,000 California students across more than 30 cities in Northern, Central, and Southern California.
With its wide reach across backgrounds and geographic locations, the network is a model to the rest of the nation of what’s possible when large and small organizations come together to support and uplift students of all backgrounds.
